The FG has assured the U.S. of its firm determination to bring an end to the destructive activities of Boko Haram in the country.

The Nigeria Embassy in the U.S. stated this in a statement made available to the North America Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York on Friday.

The U.S. Department of State had on Thursday formally designated leaders of Nigeria’s Boko Haram sect – Abubakar Shekau, Abubakar Adam Kambar and Khalid al-Barnawi as terrorists.

The statement said that Khalid al-Barnawi and Abubakar Adam Kambar had ties to Boko Haram and also had close links with al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation.

It also appealed to the U.S. government not to allow its action against leaders of Boko Haram to affect their immediate neighbours.

The Embassy noted that immediate neighbours of the terrorists, who have felt most the impact of their activities, were vehemently opposed to Boko Haram and its activities.

“We shall continue our efforts in this direction with the active cooperation and assistance of our friends and allies especially our host government,”the Embassy said.

It also expressed its sadness that the Boko Haram episode had led to such a declaration.

The Embassy noted that the Federal Republic of Nigeria availed itself of the opportunity to renew to the U.S. Department of State, the assurances of its highest consideration.

Let the US come nigerians are not fools any longer. Our corrupt leaders want it to be so. They want this country and masses to remain in poverty. No different between the money our leaders are stealing and what it will take us invite those that are able to stop the activities of boko haram if only we may move freely in our country. Did the masses know any thing about oil money?

  2. Charles, calabar. says:

Boko Haram is a foolish sect. Let wait and see when Nigeria is divided who will suffer, the south will fight to the grave to defend herself.

  3. Mario says:

How can this people be fooling themselves not Nigerian that the Americans are coming for the oil that is the South, is not better for the Americans to come for that oil and help us solve our problems that is eating deep in our bones because these oils has been sold as fuel subsidy without any good account of the money 1). Those that surpose to probe committee of the subsidy are caught for bribery and corruption 2). Nigerians are not even talking about the money of the subsidy but that of the bribery.
So, I say that the Boko Haram members that is in politics should stop telling us that the Americans are coming for the oil.

I for one want the Americans to come to the aid of Nigerians because the government of JOnathan can’t fight this battle alone because all the Hausa’s politians has team up to see that Nigeria did not make an head way since an Hausa man is in not in the sit of power of Nigeria government, they’ve been in this same sit for over thirty years with nothing to show for it, that is how they want every government to fail. They knew that with the turn out of the masses during the election period that if they did not introduce a group like Boko Haram that the result of the election will yeild a success to Nigerians from the Nigeria government.

  4. Said says:

if they finished wit north, they won’t get out, they’ll surely turn to south. So we’re back to colonial eras!!! Use ur heads Nigerians! Let’s help ourselves and don’t wait for anybody to help us.

    • I’m not suprise by the American statement becouse it has been long they are looking for a way to enter our country to thieft our oil. with this now our selfish leaders had give them the automatic ticket to robbed us and our wealth and go.

      • Jimo Owoseni says:

This is clearly a very reckless talk. How much of your oil have they (USA)stolen? If not for the US technology, would you have known you have oil deposited under your soil? If anybody will talk about “our oil” at all, it should be the Niger-Delta people and not you an Hausa man from the Desert.
