President Goodluck Jonathan
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees and former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan against the reinstatement of Justice Ayo Salami to the bench, saying that “the man is a bad example of what a proper judiciary should be.”
Chief Babatope, who addressed newsmen in Benin yesterday, accused Justice Salami of conniving with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to steal electoral victories belonging to the PDP in some states of the federation. “He stole our victory in Ibadan; he compelled panels to embarrass the PDP and he said he wanted to come back. If they returned him, well, best of luck to whomever returns him, but the man is a bad example of what a proper judiciary should be. Those who are saying he should go back don’t know what they are saying.”
