CPC backs ACN’s call for Jonathan’s impeachment – Daily Trust

The leadership of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has come out to back the Action Congress of Nigeria’s call on the National Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan, in the wake of the church renovation by a construction company to the President’s home community.

In a telephone conversation with Daily Trust, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Engineer Rotimi Fashakin said going by the “church bribe”, President Jonathan has lost the moral fibre to lead the country.

“The kind of corruption we are seeing going on all around us in the nation, shows that it is been perpetrated from the very top. If the president could make a demand for a church donation from a construction company, it goes a long way in giving Nigeria an understanding of the type of leadership that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) brings to the table,” Fashakin said.

It would be recalled that a construction company, Ghitto Construction Company, had last week presented a renovated church to President’s Jonathan’s home village Otuoke, in what presidential spokesman Rueben Abati had described as the company’s corporate social responsibility. The company’s gestures had generated widespread debate, with opposition parties calling for the president’s impeachment.
