President Goodluck JonathanThe Federal Government yesterday maintained that the door is still open for dialogue with Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lil’da’awati Wal Jihad known as Boko Haram.
This was sequel to the assertion by head of Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, Dr. Ibrahim Datti Ahmad that he was withdrawing from the peace parley between the FG and the sect because it seemed the Federal Government is not serious about the dialogue between the two parties.
However, speaking on the matter to the BBC Hausa Service monitored by our reporter yesterday, the Adviser to the President on Youth; Mr. Ahmed Gulak said the government is still committed to dialogue with the sect for the sake of peace in Nigeria.
“I will like to assure all Nigerians that the government is committed to dialogue with all persons or group for peace to reign in Nigeria”.
“The dialogue is not to be hidden but to be made open, so Nigerians are supposed to be aware of the dialogue between the Federal Government and the sect. It’s not supposed to be a problem because Nigerians are aware of the dialogue, Dr. Datti has should have discussed with Jonathan on the issue and explained his grievances but not to withdraw completely from the dialogue,” Gulak noted.
