It was a celebration of the life and death of the Late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu when he was brought to the arena of the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Monday morning.
He was variously described as a unifying factor and a rallying figure for the sustenance of the Nigerian State.
President Goodluck Jonathan led other leaders from across the country to pay their last respect to the former governor of the old eastern region.
Vice President Nnamdi Sambo represented President Jonathan at the short funeral ceremony.
Others include First Lady, Patience Jonathan, Senate President David Mark, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Pius Anyim, Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako and former Governors of Enugu and Anambra States, Okwesillieze Nwodo and Chukwuemeka Ezeife respectively.
Also at the event are Minister of Labour Productivity, Emeka Wogu, Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, FCT Minister Bala Mohammed, Chief Tom Ikimi, Sen. Uche Chukwumerije, Senator Chris Ngige, former Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Women Affairs Josephine Anenih and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Ihejirika.
Arch Bishop of Abuja Dioceses, Arch. Bishop John Onaiyekan prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased after sprinkling holy water on the coffin to baptize him, in accordance with biblical injections.
Jonathan described Ojukwu as an advocate of a united Nigeria whose sterling qualities no words can adequately expressed.
