The incident occurred behind old Bank of the North headquarters within the precinct of the private residence of Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar at Gandu Albasa area of the municipality.

The statement read: “As a result of the attack, two died on the spot, while two other security personnel were injured. They are receiving treatment,” at an undisclosed hospital.

Some residents had earlier claimed that the Kano home of the IG was attacked by the group, killing about six guards at the entrance. Police denied the allegation, saying the IG’s home was “not attacked.”
