CPC National Secretariat Faces Eviction In 7 Days – Leadership Newspapers

The national secretariat of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) was Friday served a seven-day quit notice by Senator Rufai Hanga through the Federal High court, Abuja.

The court bailiff who served the notice on Friday February 17 was initially locked out from the premises before he was later allowed to execute his mission.

This was a follow-up to the reminder notice earlier served the party by solicitor to Senator Hanga, Alex Marama, informing the party of his client’s intention to take possession of his building after the rent paid by the party expired on December 31, 2011.

A statement signed by CPC interim National Publicity Secretary, Aghanya Dennis, said an agreement between Senator Hanga, who doubles as the interim National Chairman of the party and the party’s representatives – interim Deputy National Chairman, Dr Almajeri Geidam and the National Treasurer, Hon. Hadi Sirika – the CPC was supposed to indicate interest to renew the tenancy before three months to the expiration of the rent, failing which it would be assumed that it did not intend to renew the tenancy.

The party, however, did not write the landlord two months to the expiration of the rent. It was on this basis that Hanga wrote the party, indicating his intention to carry out a pre-inspection visit to the secretariat to ascertain the condition of his property before finally recovering it.

Meanwhile judgment has been fixed for the April 30, 2012, by the FCT High court on the suit filed by the CPC’s Aghanya Dennis contesting the claim by the party’s purported Board of Trustees which claimed it was legally constituted and had consequently organized the January 4-6 National Convention that produced Tony Momoh’s National Executive Committee (NEC) which is also being challenged by the Senator Hanga led NEC of the party.
