Commotion in Nigeria Senate over State burial debate for Ojukwu

Nigeria Senate dedicated today to a debate on how Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu should be buried.
Senators agreed to observe a minute silence in honour of Late Chief Ojukwu; the Senate also agreed to send an important delegation to commiserate with Ojukwu’s family, the people, and Government of Anambra State.
The Senate encouraged the Federal Government to immortalize late Ojukwu by naming a befitting establishment after him.
Many Senators representing South Eastern States, Ojukwu’s ancestral home, wore black suits in order to capture the proceedings of the day in the Nigeria Senate.
Senator Andy Uba and 50 others adopted a motion in the Nigeria Senate, entitled, “Death of Dim Chukuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba Nnewi) 1933-2011″; the motion was intended to afford Chief Ojukwu State burial but other members of the Senate opposed State burial for Chief Ojukwu, they argued, Chief Ojukwu did not merit State Burial based on his accomplishments.
Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Abdul Ningi, stated, “the prayer should be rejected in order not to set a precedent that ran contrary to the laws of the country. What are you thinking?
