Tinubu refuse to enter Dock at Code of Conduct Tribunal

Former Governor, Bola Tinubu, refused to enter the dock earlier today at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. His lawyers reasons were: Tinubu did not accept the charges against him, so it will be unconstitutional to put him in the dock until the tribunal rules on the preliminary objection, the same charges were filed against Tinubu in 2007 and the case is still pending in court, and the Abuja Tribunal lack jurisdiction to hear the case since the supposed offense was committed in Lagos. The Prosecutor, Dr. Izion, responded by stating the Constitution empowers the Attorney General to withdraw charges against an accused before judgment is given, and as such, the argument of the defence has no basis in law, the court’s federal status allows it to try any matter in any part of the country, and it was too early to ask the prosecutor to prove its case because it can only happen during the course of the trial. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was charged to court by the Federal Government on allegation that he violated section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15 LFN, 2004, as amended, by operating 10 foreign accounts during his time as Governor between 1999 and 2007. What are you thinking?
