Law Enforcement Officers in Kano State, called Hisbah Guards, enforced Shariah Law throughout Kano State by confiscating over 42,000 bottles of Alcoholic beverages worth over ten million naira that were illegally sold throughout the state.
The Government of Kano State has an obligation to entrench moral values in Kano State in line with the provisions of Shariah Code. Commandant General of the Hisbah Board, Sheik Aminu Daurawa stated: “The Board has recorded tremendous success in the fight against immorality in the State.”
In the past couple of years, Hisbah Guards enforced Shariah Law in Kano State by destoying thirteen truckloads of assorted alcoholic drinks consisting of 7280 cartons and 1002 bottles of different brands of beer in 2009, and In 2010, 34,000 bottles of assorted alcohol were destroyed at Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
