Lagosians ignore Local Government Election

Most voters failed to turnout for Saturday’s Local Government Elections in Lagos. Election observers at strategic places in Lagos said Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) officials were seen idle. Voters that went out to vote in the Maryland area of Lagos had to wait for the arrival of INEC officials for close to 3 hours. At least 18 organizations may have monitored Saturday’s Election. Candidates are contesting in 28 political parties for the chairmanship and councillorship positions in 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas in Lagos. What are you thinking?

People fail to realize that the Local Government is the unit of Governance closest to them. Therefore is a pivotal one. It’s a pity really. Proves we need a lot more education on how true Democracy functions and what the true definition of a Federal Republic is.

  4. Name says:

Nigerians are looking for drastic change so they may not be a large turnout for elections in Nigeria
