NLC plans to fight the Federal Government of Nigeria over Fuel Subsidies

Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar, president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) told newsmen in Benin, he has not reached an agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria over plans to scrap fuel subsidies; Mr. Omar believes the move of the Federal Government of Nigeria will further impoverish Nigerians. Mr Abdulwaheed Omar and other NLC leaders were in Benin on a scheduled National Administrative Council meeting; they intend to focus on the Government’s plan to remove fuel subsidies during their deliberation. Mr. Omar appealed to the Benin Monarch during a courtesy visit to his palace to lend his voice to the struggle against scraping fuel subsidies. Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) estimate the price of petrol will go up from 65 Naira per litre to 138 Naira and 20 kobo and Kerosene will go up from 50 Naira per litre to 151 Naira and 15 kobo per litre, if the Federal Government enforces plans to scrap fuel subsidies. The arguement of the Federal Government of Nigeria about plans to scrap fuel subsidies is: “the program is filled with corrupt individuals” and the arguement of Nigerians is: “tackle those corrupt individuals and not the Nigerian masses that are already struggling financially”. Nigerians also wonder how the corrupt Federal Government will use over 1 trillion Naira that will be freed up from scraping fuel subsidies. What are you thinking?
